Catholic School Letters

Excerpts from letters written about The Joy, Wonder, and Fun of Mathematics

Mrs. Mary H. Miller Ed.S., Principal
St. Isaac Jogues Catholic School
St. Clair Shores, MI

"Each of the three programs you presented for our K-8 school was age-appropriate. The students are still talking about how awesome it was. You kept them involved and interested. Your program was one of the best assemblies we have ever had here at St. Jogues School."

Jill Graessle Naeger
Teacher
Our Lady of Refuge School
W. Bloomfield, MI

"You have a wonderful way of instilling a love of math in children. My two oldest sons have had a keen interest in math ever since they saw your program at Oakland Comm. College's Science Day for Kids a few years ago. We had a blast all summer with the things they picked up at your workshop.  The three programs you recently gave at Our Lady of Refuge were very exciting. We were thrilled to have you present for us, and we intend to have you return."

Dodie Lore
Program Planning Committee
Divine Child P.G.
Dearborn, MI

"Thank you for returning to Divine Child Elementary School. Once again, your programs were entertaining with strong educational value. The students know that they are surrounded with opportunities to explore and practice math in unconventional and fun ways. I'm sure that the teachers have found new ways to look at math and how they can incorporate your methods into their classes. The pranks and surprises fascinated and delighted everyone!"

St Thecla Home & School Committee
Clinton Township, MI

"Thank you for coming to St. Thecla School and motivating our students. Your "Joys of Math" program was wonderful. Students, teachers, and parents alike got excited about math. Your props and sense of humor made your presentations really worthwhile. Thanks for making math fun."

Sister Patricia Fischer, O.P.
Principal at St John School
Fenton, MI

“The students and staff at our school would like to let you know how much we enjoyed your math presentation last month. Your use of live music and magic tricks sparked everyone's interest in the subject of math. As one teacher said: "The trumpet playing got the students' attention and the tricks made them realize the magic of numbers and the fun you can have with math."  The following comments by students regarding the presentations convince me that we will invite you back very soon.

"It was the best math class I ever had." --Justin

"The tricks you did were awesome! They are like magic! I thought it would be boring, but I guess I was wrong. I learned many new and neat math tricks. Now I love math and can't wait til that part of class. I showed my family what I learned and they thought I was a genius. I enjoyed you being here. Will you come again?" -- Sydney

"I liked when you played your trumpet and did the math tricks. It was fun learning math."  -- Rosellen

"You are great at math and very funny. I think the assembly was magic."--  Shannon

"I learned a lot from you. I used to hate math, but now it is my favorite subject." -- Frank

"You were great! You were awesome! No, wait, you were better than awesome, you were Mathificent."  --  Julian

As you can see, Prof Hart, the students found your presentations exciting, informative, and fun. Thank you again for sharing your love of math, music, and magic. We look forward to having you visit again in the near future.”

Bill Lindeman
Principal
St. Cyprian School Wyandotte, MI

"I wanted to take the time to thank you and to tell you how much our students enjoyed your assemblies. It was obvious to me that students and teachers found your programs to be entertaining and stimulating. They laughed and were attentive. They were into the content as witnessed by their desire to participate.

I particularly appreciate that you altered your presentation style and content for the three different  age groups. Hopefully, the joy and curiosity of math that you created in the assemblies will remain with the children. I do know that they were charged by the presentations, since many children communicated this to me and to their parents.

Thank you, again, for your worthwhile, stimulating presentations."
